This Type of Thing Only Happens When You Are In a Hurry

I should have learned by now to be quicker with the diapers when getting the little ones out of the tub! I had just given Clayton a bath and was rummaging around for some clothes. Clayton pooped on the floor then of course, stepped in it and proceeded to walk all over the room. Dang! I put him back in the tub. I'm walking back and forth from bathroom to bedroom, cleaning up the mess when he does it again! Only this time it's in his bath. Ick! I hate fishing out those little floating nasties! Now I have to bathe Clayton again, clean his room and the tub. You'd think I'd have learned by now!

Old Videos

I've been going through and saving all of my old VHS videos. I've been at it all day, and I'm thoroughly sick of it. I've rediscovered some great clips, but there is SOOO much. It will take me forever to get through it all. Here's one clip of Ross and Mark:

Spotted Boy on a Pizza Box

I normally reserve 6:30-7:30 am for cooking breakfast and getting kids ready for school. Today, however with an extra kid or two or three and a busy day ahead, I decided the kids could have cereal and left over pizza for breakfast while I rode the exercise bike in the basement. Clayton helped himself to the older kids' leftovers. Those spots are the chocolate chips from Cookie Crisps that he was eating out of the bag and out of the older kids' bowls that he spilled all over the table and floor. He's darn cute though, is he not!

Various

We've had my nephew, Erik staying with us. He and Justice have been a great time. They are really fun to watch together.
Here are (some of) the fruits of my labors. I spent many an hour out in the garden weeding this summer. I've also spent many an hour canning green beans,
salsa,
and grape jelly
Here's me with my little guys. Clayton was hanging out and chillin with us, till Lydia pulled out the camera.

Lydia's Life with Four Brothers

First, Clayton took Lydia's favorite doll for a swim in the toilet. Then later on today, I took Ross and Mark with me to pick Lydia up from her school (middle school - land of people needing to be "cool"). Ross was trying his hardest to embarrass her. As soon as we got even close to the school, Ross rolled down the window, leaned out and started screaming and waving his arms at all of the kids. He kept yelling "I'm a dolphin, and my sister is Lydia Eldridge!!" Unfortunately for him, Lydia didn't seem embarrassed at all. She seemed to be enjoying it!

Lunch at Home

To the tune of "Love at Home" :

There is gravy all around,
when there's lunch at home.
Mashed potatoes in a mound,
when there's lunch at home.

Steak with green beans on the side,
slab of bread that's 2 feet wide.
All this laced with cyanide
when there's lunch at home.

Lunch at Home,
Lunch at Home!
What the freak?! It's homicide,
when there's lunch at home!

DURH!!!!

I'm not a novice to canning anymore. I've been doing it nearly every summer/fall for most of the past decade. I've also been using the same ancient pressure canner the entire time. The thing that irritated me most about canning with the pressure canner is that you can't open the thing until the pressure gauge reads zero. Otherwise, you might do yourself some damage. It takes about 1/2 hour for the thing to cool off enough to depressurize. I was always tempted to run the thing under water but was too chicken to try. So, my day was always severely slowed down by waiting for the stupid thing to cool off before I could put the next batch in.

Imagine how utterly stupid (yet glad) I felt when all these years later, I realized that the thing has a pressure release valve! All this time!!!! I am an idiot!

Tying Up an Egg

Ross had to do an egg drop project for school. Here's how it turned out.

Don't arrest me! Ross let Lydia tie him up. It reminded me of when John & I used to tie each other up as kids, to see if the we could escape.
